Last SCCA Lake Superior Pro Rally is Team’s First

(PRWEB) November 4, 2004

While others were competing in their last SCCA sanctioned Performance Rally Houghton, MI local Carl Seidel, age 21, of Die Fliegen Legion Racing competed in his first this weekend of October 22nd and 23rd, the Ottawa Club Rally and Auto Value Keweenaw Challenge Club Rally run in conjunction with the SCCA Lake Superior Pro Rally based out of Houghton, MI. Teamed up with rookie co-driver Eric Iverson, age 22 from Minneapolis, MN, the two took to the stages in car number 690, their Production class 1988 Volkswagen GTI 16v. They headed out with a conservative approach on their minds for the weekend, as the main objective was to finish their first events and work on communication and driving skills.

Friday night the stages were rainy, muddy, and slippery. Yet the team was able to finish and place 3rd in Production class by more than four minutes. On the last stage they stopped to help pull a fellow competitor out of the ditch and lost over a minute, and also damaged a wheel and control arm on a rock when caught in a rut.

Saturday’s event went smoothly despite the conditions. On the first stage of the day the team counted at least four cars already off in the ditches and trees and out of the rally. A few cars continued to succumb to the conditions and were forced to drop out throughout the day. Few problems arose with the car so Seidel and Iverson continued with their cautious approach and were determined to finish. The final stage of the day was the same road as the first stage that claimed many cars, but run in reverse. On stage they still caught the car in front of them, and were passed by the car behind them, but the main thing is that they finished. And despite losing more than two minutes on the last stage the team still finished 2nd in Production class.

Seidel and Iverson were very happy to have just finished, placing high in their class was an added bonus. In addition to conservative driving and good communication the team couldn’t have done as well without their service crew and the support of Martineau and Morris Contracting, Inc of Houghton. The pair also hope to continue their rallying efforts in 2005, starting with the Sno*Drift club rallies in Atlanta, MI on January 28th and 29th.

2011 Top Leadership Teams in Healthcare Winners Announced

2011 Top Leadership Teams in Healthcare Winners Announced

Nashville, TN (PRWEB) August 19, 2011

HealthLeaders Media, the leading provider of healthcare business information to healthcare executives, has announced the Top Leadership Teams in Healthcare award winners for 2011.

The Top Leadership Teams in Healthcare award program is in its eighth year. The program is designed to celebrate the outstanding teamwork that occurs in healthcare organizations each day, to share what makes top leadership teams successful, and to encourage other healthcare leaders to learn more from the best practices of top leadership teams. This year, HealthLeaders Media recognized outstanding leadership teamwork at three hospitals and one medical group practice.

“The Top Leadership Teams program was founded on the premise that the core value for every successful healthcare organization must be teamwork—this year’s winners certainly demonstrate that concept,” says Gienna Shaw, a senior editor at HealthLeaders Media, who oversaw this year’s program.

The 2011 winners are

Banner Health, Phoenix, AZ, for Large Hospitals and Health Systems
Kadlec Regional Medical Center, Richland, WA, for Community and Mid-Sized Hospitals
Johnson County Community Hospital, Mountain City, TN, for Small Hospitals
ENT and Allergy Associates, LLP, Tarrytown, NY, for Medical Group Practices

“Everyone involved in selecting this year’s winners was so impressed with the hard work that these leadership teams did to make significant changes at their organizations. Each one has a compelling and unique story—but their experiences also hold lessons for all healthcare organizations that want to improve their patients’ experience, the quality and patient safety of their clinical care, and their business operations,” Shaw said.

Winners are judged on the team’s overall leadership culture, its ability to overcome challenges, and its ability to demonstrate successes that result from outstanding leadership teamwork. Only one winner per category receives this national honor each year. This year, the categories included:

Large Hospitals and Health Systems (500 or more licensed beds)
Community and Mid-Sized Hospitals (100–499 licensed beds)
Small Hospitals (fewer than 100 licensed beds)
Medical Group Practices (physician-owned, single- or multi-specialty groups employing 25 or more physicians)

The winning organizations will be profiled in the October issue of HealthLeaders magazine. For more information about the winners, go to:
