Take Back Your Health as Health Clubs Open Their Doors to the Public in May

The International Health, Racquet & Sportsclub Association (IHRSA) and member health clubs across the nation announced today the upcoming start of the 7th annual Get Active America!, IHRSA’s national health promotion program. From May 3-9, participating IHRSA-member health clubs will open their doors to the public to encourage and inspire Americans to take control of their health by becoming more physically active. Find a participating health club near you.

Get Active America! is part of an ongoing effort by the health club industry to change the direction of the nation’s health by making exercise more accessible to millions of Americans and by helping them take the first step toward healthier lifestyles.

“As obesity levels associated with chronic diseases increasingly burden our health care system and interfere with our quality of life, one thing is clear: Americans urgently need to take control of their health,” said Joe Moore, IHRSA president and CEO. “This year’s program theme, ‘Take Back Your Health,’ is a reminder to all Americans that they have more control over their health than they realize. Better health management begins with a commitment to daily exercise, and Get Active America! is the jumpstart people need to get on track.”

Now its seventh year, Get Active America! takes place every May, during National Physical Fitness and Sports Month, which is coordinated by the President’s Council on Physical Fitness and Sports. The purpose is to challenge Americans to get moving for better health and to get more active and fit during the Month of May.

“May is an ideal time and Get Active America! is a great program for helping people maintain the momentum of their New Year’s fitness goals,” said Moore. “As warm weather approaches, people become more aware of their physical appearance. We want to remind people that exercise is more than just a way to look better. It is also an effective way to feel better and live better. Get Active America! provides the kind of support people need to both achieve their fitness goals and maintain them year-round.”

As part of Get Active America!, many clubs will be educating their local communities about disease prevention and healthy living through exercise. And clubs will be offering programs to benefit the wide array of people in their communities, all with diverse health and fitness goals. Clubs will also be encouraging their members to sign up for the Woman Challenge, organized by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Office on Women’s Health. This eight-week physical fitness challenge encourages women to get at least 2 hours and 30 minutes of moderate-intensity physical activity each week. It’s part of National Women’s Health Week, which runs from May 9-15, 2010. Participants will be able to track their steps online at: http://www.womenshealth.gov/woman.

PACE Fitness Adds Nutrition Program to Offer Health Clubs and Members a Total Wellness Package in Time for New Years

PACE Fitness Adds Nutrition Program to Offer Health Clubs and Members a Total Wellness Package in Time for New Years

Rancho Santa Margarita, CA (PRWEB) December 23, 2010

PACE Fitness has been marketing its hydraulic circuit training equipment to women’s fitness centers and coed health clubs for over 20 years. PACE has now joined with the Medical/Weight Management Industry’s leader in the development of weight management products to offer an extensive line of meal replacements and protein supplements which have been scientifically designed to meet the nutritional needs of the Low Calorie dieter just in time for New Year’s Resolution memberships.

PACE President Rande LaDue states, “We have always suggested our health club customers offer some type of nutrition program to their members, but up until this point, we have never offered anything. We are happy to introduce our comprehensive program to help facilitate faster results for members and increased profits for the clubs. Exercise alone is only half of the wellness equation; now our health customers can offer a complete package.”

“January is typically the busiest month of the year for health clubs; however, it is even busier for weight loss centers because of the intimidation factor. Overweight people typically are too intimidated to join conventional health clubs. Our non-intimidating hydraulic equipment has helped many clubs overcome this hurdle; however, without a nutrition program, clubs are not offering what these people want and need as well as missing out on a great deal of profit.”

“Simplicity has always been a key factor to the success of our hydraulic circuit program. The same holds true with our new nutrition program. Our turn-key start up package for clubs includes staff training, marketing and program manuals as well as a start up supply of products for immediate sales.”

PACE Nutrition products will be available direct to the consumer through its website pacefitnessandnutrition.com for those areas without a PACE club nearby.

New Soccer Training Method Revitalizes Maitland Soccer Club

New Soccer Training Method Revitalizes Maitland Soccer Club

(PRWEB) June 27, 2005

Maitland Soccer Club has adopted a new soccer training program, Virtual Soccer Trainer, a new method for teaching soccer over the Internet through short video developed by former professional soccer player Kamal de Gregory. Since adopting the program, Maitland Soccer Club has seen dramatic improvements in their team’s abilities.

“We are using Virtual Soccer Trainer as an integral tool for reaching our five year goal of being the best soccer club in Orlando, Florida,” said Joe Biber, Director of Coaching for the Maitland Soccer Club. “It allows us to teach exactly what we want every player in the club to learn, while keeping parents and coaches informed and on the same page. It does the work of providing unlimited time and effort in supporting every member of our organization, enabling them in reaching our club’s vision.”

Virtual Soccer Trainer is an online soccer training program using the theory of modeling, in which players are shown the correct way to perform a skill then work to mimic it. It consists of hundreds of 1-3 minute soccer training tutorials designed to:

Accelerate beginning and advanced players’ skills

Educate parents

Help coaches save time by continuing to train their players off the field

The soccer training tutorials range from the basic themes of proper passing technique to advanced topics of defending in the midfield. Soccer drills and online tests have also been created to help teach and reinforce these topics, and all are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week at http://www.4Skills.com.

This soccer training program is available to youth teams for as little as $ 2 per player. To receive this soccer training program, visit http://www.4Skills.com or call toll-free 1-866-460-3569. The website also has valuable information on health-related soccer training issues, tips from other soccer professionals, and lots of soccer products.

About Maitland Soccer Club

Maitland Soccer Club’s vision is to develop players who play soccer well and grow as individuals and teammates inside a supportive community. Through proper instruction, training, and encouragement, Maitland Soccer Club is coaching players to be champions with character, both on and off the field.

About 4Skills.com

4Skills.com was created after Kamal de Gregory, a professional soccer player, saw the difference in soccer training techniques around the globe. Some methods worked better than others, but de Gregory became dedicated to providing professional soccer training, which was previously only accessible to elite and professional players, to youth teams around the world.

David Lloyd Leisure Injects Nearly £2M Into Finchley Club Refurbishment

(PRWEB UK) 1 September 2011

David Lloyd Leisure, the health, sports and leisure group, has announced it is pumping £1.85 million into its Finchley facility over the next six months to refurbish much of the club and install a purpose built facility for kids: DL Kids.

DL Kids, a purpose built facility offering a wide range of fun, sporting and educational programmes developed by the group, will open at David Lloyd Finchley, in North London, in December 2011 at a cost of over £800,000. It will offer a wide range of term-time and holiday programmes that are aimed at fun, socialisation, learning and activity.

In addition, David Lloyd Finchley will see just over £1m spent on upgrading its clubroom cafe – to be rebranded DL Cafebar – as well as its changing room areas and nursery.

Tracy Gale, general manager for David Lloyd Finchley said: “We are very excited about the improvements that will be made to the clubroom area and changing areas, as well as the opening of our new DL Kids facility. The demand for DL Kids programmes and facilities has grown significantly since we first introduced it and we know the purpose built facility will allow us to offer more programmes in a better space that works practically for the family as a whole.”

The group has seen a three per cent net growth in junior members since the beginning of 2011, with over 266,000 child visits per month, and an average of 3.2m per year. DL Kids Finchley will be the third purpose built DL Kids facility, the first having opened at David Lloyd Raynes Park in January 2010 as a pilot, and, following its success, DL Kids Leeds was opened in April this year. The facilities feature a mini sports hall, multi-purpose studios, interactive classrooms, DL Kids café and child-oriented bathrooms, and offer the DL Kids programmes which include sports, arts and crafts, hundreds of types of games, birthday parties and more. The programmes, run throughout the school year, are designed to complement the national curriculum, in addition to the DL Kids Holiday Active programme that runs during the school holidays and is open to non members as well.

Work has already commenced on refurbishing the DL Cafebar and changing room areas, and is due to be complete by November.
